A multifaceted individual with roles ranging from minister and public speaker to campaign director and businessman, Temisan Barber has dedicated over a decade and a half to the cause of social welfare and women’s empowerment. His impactful work spans across 26 countries in Africa and the Middle East, establishing him as a leading advocate for women’s rights.
The genesis of his journey unfolded in 2011 during a mission to plan the largest Christian gathering in Sierra Leone’s history. Amidst the remnants of the civil war, Temisan organized social outreaches to internally displaced victims, particularly women who bore the physical, psychological, and financial scars of the conflict.
Inspired by Jesus’ advocacy for women, Temisan embarked on a mission to challenge societal norms. He stood up for women caught in adversity, engaged in intellectual discourse with those at the margins, and acknowledged the pivotal role women played in transformative narratives.
Venturing into various interfaith groups and organizations, Temisan has relentlessly empowered and advocated for women’s rights. His campaigns include financial empowerment, medical outreaches, and women’s prison visitations, addressing diverse needs at different levels.
Following a three-pronged approach—education, health, and social interventions—Temisan’s initiatives aim to train and financially support small-scale women-owned businesses. He passionately believes that investing in girls’ education can uplift entire nations, eradicate early marriages, and pave the way for economic empowerment.
Temisan draws inspiration from African trailblazers like Ellen Sirleaf Johnson, Ngozi Okonjo Iweala, Chimamanda Adichie, and Mrs. Dlamini Zuma. He has spoken on global platforms, advocating for women’s rights and diversity, reaching diverse audiences across the continent.
Currently focused on training women in tech through his company, Liberty Tech Support, Temisan strives to break barriers, offering opportunities for women as product owners and scrum masters. His commitment is evident in his employment of women and plans for future expansion.
